Improving Local Air Quality
The environmental impact of an airline is felt most immediately by those living in the areas surrounding airports. We limit our impact on these local communities by reducing the noise we produce and our emissions which can affect the local air quality.
As part of our commitment we support academic research that provides valuable insight into the impacts of aviation on the local environment, including that of our own operation.
We are also supporting research into Particulate Matter (PM) emissions and other local air quality impacts while also investigating ways of reducing the noise created by our flights.
The fuel efficiency of future flights is expected to improve considerably thanks to new airspace management techniques.
One such improvement is through “Tailored Arrivals” which are being used at selected airports to reduce the fuel burn on arriving flights.
